We live in an age where access to information is literally at our fingertips. If you want to know anything about anything, it’s just a keyboard stroke or mouse-click away. There is so much out there telling us what to do, how to do it, when to do it, where to do it, and even why we should be doing it. It can become distracting, confusing, overwhelming, and even paralyzing.
We can find so many answers ‘out there’ offering us a quick fix to our problems and our pains. When we are struggling in life and feeling unfulfilled, over-worked and under-valued we turn to others to tell us what to do. There are plenty of people and companies out there that promise to fix us and fix us fast. So, we start doing what they tell us to do. However, something isn’t right. It doesn’t seem to be working for us the way they said it would and we wonder why. Perhaps we’re not disciplined enough, perhaps we’re not smart enough – and we stall.
The good news is there is another way. However, it’s not a quick fix and it’s not a how-to. If you really want to live the life YOU want to live start by asking yourself what it is you really want – and why you want it. By no means is this an easy question to answer. That’s why people and companies like to answer it for you and tell you what your want – you want to lose twenty pounds, you want to get rich in ninety days, you want to find the love of your life, and the list goes on – so many trees! Exploring what you truly want is not an easy path or a quick fix. It takes effort and can sometimes feel impossible; however, once you start making small discoveries you start making small steps. Then, over time, the small discoveries turn into bigger discoveries, and the small steps turn into great strides.
It’s a lifelong process, but it’s YOUR lifelong process. They’re your mistakes and your successes and you get to write, tell and own YOUR story as you travel along YOUR journey. You stop looking to others for quick-fix advice and look instead for long-term support. This is because you see the big picture – your big picture – your life ahead of you – your forest.
So what is it YOU want to create – and why?
